I have a large collection of cards that I use, and have built up a network of baseball card shops to supply most of my needs. The internet is also a valuable tool in finding specific cards. Typically I supply all the cards for a picture.
Yes. Each picture is custom made, and the customer can request which cards they want to be used. Often times people want cards used from their childhood heroes, as well as from their favorite team. Recently I created a piece for a life long Dodger fan, and they wanted a card from their all time favorite player; Sandy Koufax.
Your guess is as good as mine. I have never counted (I'm not sure it would be possible) I don't use the same card twice in the same picture. Typically I sort through thousands and thousands of cards to find just the right cards to create a great piece of ART.
Typically a Jersey replica will take 4 weeks. Logo pieces vary depending on design. Player pieces can take anywhere from 8 to 12 weeks.
Each piece is custom made, so the price varies depending on design, size and cards used to create it. Jersey pictures typically start at $3000.00. Logo pictures start at $1500.00. Player pictures are quoted upon request.
YES. I only use baseball cards to create the images. Nothing is drawn or painted on. Every last detail comes from a piece or an original baseball card (yes, even the pinstripes)

LaVern Brock is a southern California artist, who like so many, grew up as a baseball fan, and baseball card collector. An art school graduate with a background in graphic design and illustration, his passion for baseball led him to combine his artistic talents, and his hobby of collecting baseball cards. When not in his studio, he can be found at the ballpark, at the beach, mountain biking, hiking, fishing, working on his dune buggy, or just enjoying life's adventures.
